$10,000 1947 Miami Open Tournament Low Amateur Tray
In December of 1947 just like he had done with his second place finish in April at the Masters, Frank Stranahan gave the professional golf world all the competition they could ask for finishing 8 strokes behind champion Jimmy Demaret (who would win the Vardon trophy in '47) over the four round $10,000 Miami Open. His scorecard for the event showed rounds of 69-69-69-68--275 which easily placed him as low amateur. The tray Stranahan received as low amateur in the Miami Open is offered here with engraving that states:
Frank Stranahan
Amateur
Winner Of The 1947
$10,000 Miami Open
Golf Tournament
Back reads: 5-331
Diameter is 14 1/2"
A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
