1897 Royal & Ancient St. Andrews Report by Rules Committee
From the oldest and most prestigious golf club to the Otto Probst library, The Golf Auction is proud to now offer this piece of of golf history that contains information often not made available to the general public. St Andrews was established over 6 centuries ago and is widely known as the first golf course in the world. Since then they have hosted The Open Championship 29 times. This text goes over future meeting agendas , as well as the makeup of committees that the club sees a fit to amend rules going forward. This publication's longtime owner was Otto Probst was the founder of the Probst library, which held the title of the world's largest and most comprehensive golf library to the public. This library included additions from Cecil Hopkinson, a renowned collector that Otto Probst himself looked up to. Towards the latter years of Probst's life The PGA of America organization aided in managing the very large collection of publications dating back to the 1500s. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, along with Royal Blackheath Golf Club and the Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh, were some of the golf clubs that were of the highest interest to Probst, reflected in his library. A signed letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, July 21st with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
