1921 US Open at Columbia C.C. Contestant Badge #145

History shows that Hall of Famer Jim Barnes was dominate in the 1921 U.S Open contested at the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland under the watchful eye of President Warren Harding who presented the Champions cup and medal. Barnes would post medal scores of 75 and 72 in each of the final day two rounds for a wire-to-wire victory with a score of 289. All of nine strokes better then past Open winners Walter Hagen and Freddie McLeod. A lasting remnant of the Barnes triumph almost 100 years ago is this 1" x 1 1/4" diameter Contestants badge which presents as one of the few appealing and intriguing designs to emerge from the 1921 United States Open that yielded relatively small amounts of known golf memorabilia. This example is quite likely the very finest of its rare type known to exist. Its front side is as beautiful as it was the day it was manufactured, and with the compelling allure of its legendary rarity, this incomparably high-grade piece is a sparkling newsworthy artifact from the 1921 United States Open Championship. An immediate centerpiece for a world-class collection!
