1922 Bobby Jones Follow Through on Tee Box Type 1 Photo PSA/DNA#1P05229
From a time predating the thirteen major championships and the Augusta National Golf Club, or even Bobby Jones' vision for it, this stunning PSA Type I photo action shot wielding a club in 1922 as captured by a practiced lensman at Culver Pictures Inc. The year was 1922 and the scholar Jones had just graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineer. Jones the 20-year-old golfer, a three-time champion of the Southern Amateur and (unsurprising) four-year letterman on the college golf team. Bobby's turn on the tee box, Jones is shown in this photo holding his follow through, donning a dark bowtie, cabbie hat and plus fours. This landscape shot was framed just so, to include the edge of the clubhouse and Jones' much older playing partner on the right to tell more of the story. This crystal clear Type I Bobby Jones photo is encapsulated by PSA for presentation and preservation purposes. Authenticated by PSA as a 'Type I' photo and encapsulated for preservation and presentation purposes is this uncommon 1922 Bobby Jones action shot image. The verso contains multiple Culver Pictures Inc. New York, New York media stamps and 'Bobby Jones' handwritten notations including the date in which this was snapped April 17, 1922.
