1926 The Walker Cup at St. Andrews Official Program - Only One Known!
In this lot before you is the only known 1926 The Walker Cup at St. Andrews official program, the international matches that saw the US with Bobby Jones and Francis Ouimet edge out a win 6 to 5. Contested on The Old Course June 2nd and 3rd, this was only the fourth Walker Cup and the undefeated United States started off strong winning 3 of 4 Day 1 foursomes and the first two singles matches Day 2. Great Britain and Ireland, led by captain Robert Harris, did not lay down. The United States adversaries would win four of the final singles matches to close the end score gap. Bobby Jones used the momentum of his record 12 and 11 win over Cyril Tolley to go on and win the 1926 Open Championship. The scarcity of this artifact cannot be stressed enough, now is the time to bid and win.
