1926 US Open at Scioto Country Club Contestant Badge - Bobby Jones Winner
Offered in this marquee lot is the seldom seen 1926 U.S. Open contestant badge. This enamel 'USGA' pin served as a badge of passage to the course for the elite few golfers who had full access to one of Bobby Jones greatest career moments. As significant as this badge is for scarcity and frontside presentation of equal appeal to collectors is the champion in '26 was Bobby Jones.
In the 1926 U.S. Open, contested at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, Jones made a spectacular two-putt birdie on the 72nd hole to win by one stroke over Joe Turnesa claiming his second U.S. Open Championship (1923). With the victory, and already having claimed the British Open title earlier in the summer, Jones became the first golfer to hold both titles simultaneously. The front of this badge displays excellently, as depicted in the photos, with the only blemish being the pin on back intact but the loop the pin engages into is gone. This 1926 contestant badge provides all the requisites of the ideal golf collectible, and would be a worthy inclusion in just about any advanced collection.

Place your bids NOW, don’t wait until the last minute. The auction will close beginning at 10:00pm ET Sunday, June 18th. You must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your initial bid. During extended bidding, each lot will have its own 30-minute countdown clock. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot for a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. Place your initial bids BEFORE 10pm ET in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
