1928 14K Gold Medal Biltmore Forest Country Club
Some 7 years after Donald Ross designed the course at the Biltmore Forest Country Club, the club would hold a men’s invitation golf tournament and present this medal to the medalist (Tommy Aycock ) This by-invitation, member owned, private club in North Carolina has achieved Platinum status placing it among the top 3% of all private clubs in North America. The overall prestige of the club is reflected in this gold medal. The front of the medal features the magnificent clubhouse designed by Edward L. Palmer and also bears a shield with a golf club and tennis racket crossed. The Club opened on July 4, 1922, and many nationally acclaimed tennis and golf tournaments were held with the likes of Bobby Jones and Bill Tilden. The rear of this 1.25 “diameter medal (light scratches to rear over the Aycock name) is inscribed ( “ Medalist Mens Invitation Golf Tournament 1928 Tommy Aycock “ Crafted by Dieges and Clust and so stamped on the rear of the medal. 14 grams of 14K gold give this medal a high intrinsic value to add to its’ overall distinction.
