1928 For The Golf Championship Of The World Newspaper Clipping - Sarazen Collection

Here is a sepia tone newspaper photo framed and part of The Gene Sarazen Collection in which The Squire and golf nemesis Walter Hagen are featured as the subject on the green encircled with a healthy size gallery at the Westchester Biltmore CC in Rye, NY at the 1928 International Four-Ball Championship in which Sarazen won with Johhny Farrell. The below caption reads "For the 'Golf Championship of the World,' Gene Sarazen, American Open Champion with the Pains of Illness Upon Him, Stands Calmly by while Walter Hagen, British Title Holder, Tries a Crucial Putt is Their Great Match Which Ended in Victory for the Youthful Gene on the Westchester-Biltmore Links." 11 3/4 x 18 1/4." A signed letter of provenance from Mary Ann Sarazen will come with this lot.
