1929 Amateur Public Links Contestant Badge with Celluloid Tag #76

This 1 1/4" diameter contestant's pin which was a product of the famed Whitehead & Hoag button company in Newark, New Jersey was designed for the 1929 U.S.G.A Amateur Championship. This event contested at the Forest Park Golf Club in St. Louis was won (4 & 3)in record fashion by Carl F. Kauffmann. He bested 147 over entries to win his all-time record third Publinx. Even more impressive he did it three straight claiming the same U.S.G.A. Championship in 1927, 1928 and 1929. Pin remains in working fashion and also has original celluloid tag #76. Aging of badge is consistent with this era's contestants pins which are scarcely seen.

1 1/4" diameter
