1939 US Amateur at North Shore Country Club Contestant Badge - Bud Ward Winner
Here is a 1939 U.S. Amateur Contestant badge from Bud Ward's 7 & 5 win over Raymond Billows at North Shore C.C. in Glenview, Illinois. The success which Ward had in winning the '39 Amateur came as no surprise as his game was in top form having finished one stroke out of a playoff with Byron Nelson, Craig Wood and Denny Shute earlier in the summer at the U.S. Open. Ward would also claim a second U.S. Amateur title in 1941. Produced using traditional USGA contestant badge design elements, this example is in good to very good condition and carried a '20' on the reverse next to its functioning pin.
