1941 PGA Championship Program Signed by Horton Smith Plus Vic Ghezzi Signed Photo
Vic Ghezzi (D-1976) was able to hold off reigning champ Byron Nelson in the final round of the 1941 PGA Championship. Offered here is a program from the tournament held at Cherry Hills Country Club. The program's cover shows wear and creasing, especially the bottom right corner, please see photographs. What takes this piece to the next level is the beautiful pencil signature of Horton Smith (D-1963) on the autograph page inside the program. Smith won the inaugural Masters Tournament in 1934, and again in 1936. His best finish at the PGA Championship was a tie for 4th place in 1930. The signature from a Masters champ, let alone the FIRST champ (and first MULTI champ) is a necessity in any collection. Accompanying the program is an 8 1/8" x 11 3/4" black and white photograph of Vic Ghezzi, post swing at the 1941 PGA Championship. Ghezzi was able to take down the defending champ Byron Nelson to claim his first and only Major title. Ghezzi signed the photo in black ink as "Regards, Vic Ghezzi, 1941 PGA Champion." This combo of long passed Major winners will add nicely to any collection.
