1942 Ponce De Leon Sterling Silver Champions Bowl Won By Frank Stranahan
Frank Stranahan was the sensation of the 1942 Florida Winter golf circuit. This acclaim led to his playing in front of the largest gallery ever to date for the Ponce De Leon event. He did not disappoint claiming a 3 and 1 title victory over Louis Broward of Jacksonville. This marked a stretch where young Frank claimed three straight Florida amateur golf titles. In addition to the Ponce De leon, he also won at St. Augustine and the Miami Biltmore. His mark had been established on the amateur golf world. The only thing that could slow his success was the onset of World War II. The trophy for this victory is inscribed: Ponce De Leon - Trophy - Won By - Frank Stranahan - 1942.
Back Inscription reads: Gorham - Sterling 325.
9 3/4" diameter and 2" tall
A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
