1948 Canadian Amateur-Frank Stranahan's Sterling Cigar Box
In 1948, Frank Stranahan successfully defended his Canadian Amateur Championhip from the year before. He even improved on his previous years performance with a golf game that featured mechanical precision of tee shots leading to perfect positioning and a deadly putting stroke. This combination led to a route in the 36 hole final of 9 and 7 over hometown boy Joe Stoddard. For his repeat victory in the Canadian Amateur, Frank received a cigar box which features a raised relief of the The Royal Canadian Golf Association on the top followed by engravings notating his back-to-back triumphs in the event.
