1949 US Open at Medinah Contestant Badge - Cary Middlecoff Winner


Cary Middlecoff with brilliant second and third rounds of 67 and 69 over the tough layout of Medinah's Number three course just outside Chicago, Illinois saw his large lead be challenged over the final fourth round by Clayton Haefner and Sam Snead. Though challenged, Middlecoff held on for a one stroke margin of victory over both his pursuers. This lot offers an excellent condition contestant badge from the 1949 U.S. Open. This was Middlecoff's first of two U.S. Open (1956) titles which highlighted his Hall of Fame career
