1949 Womens Amateur at Merion Contestants Badge

September 13, 1949 was a monumental day in golf, and while it began the 1949 US Womens Amateur USGA match play tournament at the renown Merion Golf Club, the professionals were working on ground breaking revelation themselves in starting the Ladies Professional Golf Association. Dorothy Porter would go on to defeat Dot Kielty in the finals match to claim the title in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Here is a contestant badge from that week in similar condition to which it was issued over seven decades ago. It employs the traditional USGA design with the letters in the center.
