1950 US Open at Merion Ticket #11946 - Day of Famous Hogan 1-Iron Shot - 6/10/1950

Just over a year after being injured in a near fatal car accident, Ben Hogan claimed the 2nd of his 4 US Open titles at Merion. The 1950 US Open saw one of the most famed shots in the history of the sport, Ben Hogan's 1-iron approach shot to the 72nd green at Merion Golf Club. The original owner of this ticket presumably witnessed Hogan's incredible shot to earn his place in a three way playoff the following day, Sunday. Hogan was able to defeat Lloyd Mangrum and George Fazio in the Sunday playoff by 4 strokes. The ticket remains in great condition, the bottom showing a perforated edge, and the original green string to match the green ticket.
