1951 Western Amateur Championship Plate-Frank Stranahan Medalist Five Under
As an already two time champion of the event, Frank Stranahan was expected to excel at the 1951 Western Amateur. The Toledo Blonde Bomber did not disappoint in the 36 hole qualifying rounds. He posted a 1 under score on the first 18 holes and followed up with a 4 under tally on the second 18 giving him a 5 under 139 and medalist honors at the Western Am.
His award received for his work that day in South Bend, Indiana is offered in this lot and is etched: Medalist - 49th Western Amateur Championship - South Bend, Indiana - 1951 - Frank Stranahan. Back reads: International Sterling H293. Plate has a diameter of 12". A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
