1953 St. Petersburg Open-Frank Stranahan Low Amateur Tray
The 1953 PGA event known as the St. Petersburg Open was contested at the Florida city's Sunset Golf Club at Vinoy Park. As he did so often in that time period, Frank Stranahan was low amateur in the event. With a score of 282 (69-67-71-75) he was four strokes better then his closest simon-pure rival. In his triumph Stranahan received the offered tray from his tournament hosts with the front engraved: St. Petersburg Open Championship - Frank Stranahan - 1953- Low Amateur. The reverse is etched E.P.C. Poole Silver Co. Taunton, Mass. 1000W on this winners memento which measures 25 1/2" x 15 3/4"
A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
