1953 Open Championship at Carnoustie Program - Wed & Thurs - Robert de Vicenzo Signed
Ben Hogan needed just one try to win the Open Championship and become just the second golfer at the time to complete the career grand slam by winning each major championship. In his only Open Championship appearance in 1953, Hogan won by four strokes over the field. Roberto de Vicenzo went into the final round tied with Ben Hogan for the lead. He hit is ball out of bounds on the 9th hole and was unable to recover, finishing the tournament in 6th place. Presented here is a Wednesday and Thursday program from the tournament signed by de Vicenzo, in what appears to be pencil, on the front cover. The program is in great condition, showing just some discoloration to the front cover.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
