1954 Senior PGA Championship Runner-Up Silver Medal Won by Al Watrous
Awarded to Al Waltrous, runner-up to Gene Sarazen at the PGA National Golf Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This Senior Major Championship medal exhibits the raised detailing of clubs, golf ball and scroll that lists, "The Professional Golfers Association of America Seniors' Championship" and "1954". Verso contains intricate script as follows "Believing that the growth of the game of golf and its high standards in this country is largely due to the efforts of its early professional exponents and because of their ideals of sportsmanship and ethical practices the Professional Golfers Association of America is dedicated to the perpetuation of these ideas." Sterling silver precious metal content hallmark runs along the bottom edge of this major championship medal poised for high-grade exhibition.
Michigan's Waltrous won the Senior PGA Championship three times, back-to-back in 1950 and 1951 along with three years after this runner-up in 1957. The Senior PGA Championship was hosted in the then future PGA of America headquarters' city from 1945-1962. Three years after Augusta National Golf Club's hosting of The Masters Tournament, they would host (unbeknownst to many) the 1937 and 1938 Senior PGA Championships - identifying the first two Masters Honorary Starters, champions Jock Hutchison and Fred McLeod. The 1954 tournament would bring change, expanding from 36 to 54 holes where it would stay until the 72 hole format was enacted in 1958. It remains in good condition, with the expected ever so slight tarnishing. It remains housed in hinged top jewelry box.

During extended bidding, each lot will have its own 30-minute countdown clock. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot for a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!

2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
