To encourage the intended gentlemanly, friendly nature of the Ryder Cup event a dinner honoring the teams of Great Britain and the United States is held in advance of the matches. With a very limited number produced these program/menus from the events are prized items for Ryder Cup collectors. This especially holds true for menus from the 1950's and prior. This 1955 menu for the team dinner is in perfect mint condition free from any folding, creasing that is normally seen on these items. In 1955 the 11th Ryder Cup matches were held at the Thunderbird Golf & Country Club in Palm Springs, California. The USA was victorious by an 8-4 score over Great Britain. The backbone of this U.S. victory was the quartet of Tommy Bolt, Jack Burke Jr, Doug Ford and Sam Snead.

This lot comes from the Warren Orlick collection, over the next few auctions we will have many pieces from his estate. Warren was a past PGA President and had the nickname "Mr Rules". Warren never missed as a Masters Rules Official from 1957 - 2002. Also Ryder Cup Official from 1953 on. He was the First Rules Official to serve in all 4 majors (1996 British Open, His trip paid by the R&A and honored at dinner), also was instrumental in having the word Caucasian struck from the PGA Constitution. Also, Augusta National presented him with a service award in the early 2000's. These Lots from his collection have been kept in great shape and would be a great addition to any collection.
