1958 Masters Tournament Working Press Badge - Robert Sommers
The week that would change Masters Tournament history forever, crowning the newest king! This very badge was used as credentials for Robert Sommers who helped write the narrative in the (original) Press Tent during the event. In this case the practice rounds and tournament days which ran from March 30 to April 6, 1958 - Sommers likely working each.
Arnold Palmer won by the slimmest of margins for his first major championship. The theatrical tournament's most controversial act came behind the 12th hole, with Arnie as the lead. Palmer felt that his ball was embedded, however was told to play it by a nearby rules official and carded a double bogey. He also played a second ball from the spot taking the relief he thought that he deserved, to put that one in for a par. Tournament officials would go back on their initial ruling several holes later and grant Arnie the relief ball, and par en-route to victory. The flip side of the coin with press badges is that they often contain wear consistent to on-course use over several days and the placement and removal of the item for entrance on a daily basis to the Augusta National. This example is in good condition - a must for any Masters, golf ticket or Arnold Palmer collection.

During extended bidding, each lot will have its own 30-minute countdown clock. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot for a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. Place your initial bids BEFORE 10pm ET in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
