1961 National Collegiate Golf Championship Bronze 3rd Place Team Medal

Presented here is a 1 1/2" diameter Bronze 3rd Place Team Medal from the 1961 National Collegiate Golf Championship. The third place team that year was Southern California. To have an actual team medal from the tournament that Jack Nicklaus won the individual NCAA championship would undoubtedly be an instant highlight to any collection. Jack Nicklaus was the individual winner of the 1961 NCAA Championship which saw Purdue win the championship over Arizona State. Nicklaus trailed Mark Darnell by 2 strokes after the first day (68-70), but shot another 70 on day two to Darnell's 73 and won by a single stroke(140-141). This is the first time such a medal has been up for auction.
