1964 Ken Venturi's American Golf Classic - Firestone C.C. Sterling Silver Champions Trophy
Ken Venturi posted a then tournament record -5 total 275 to capture the 1964 American Golf Classic at the famed Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. 1964 saw Ken Venturi win on the tour three times, as the American Golf Classic helped bookend his 1964 US Open performance at Congressional. Venturi was the PGA Player of the Year and Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year.
Venturi’s prize for winning the 1964 American Golf Classic was this large and beautiful sterling silver champion’s trophy/tray. Its design includes the tournament logo, tournament information and Ken Venturi's etched signature. It measures 14 1/2" in diameter. Slight toning and in need of a silver cleaning. A letter of authenticity signed by Kathleen Venturi will accompany this lot.
