1964 Masters Tournament Contestant Badge #96 - Billy Maxwell
Toughest of all credentials to receive (and obtain) is the Masters Tournament contestant badge often found on the golfer's hat or shirt, with Billy Maxwell's 1964 'Player 96' example offered up in this lot. It was used during Arnold Palmer's fourth and final Masters victory, Arnie's Army witnessing Palmer become the first four-time winner at Augusta National. Qualifying for the small field of the Masters is something that most golfers never do. Receiving that invitation from Augusta National Golf Club is an honor, eventually pinning their contestant badge very willingly to their body for the amount of rounds they qualify for. The 1964 Masters Tournament had 96 players in the field, with Maxwell representing the final entry. This red piece of ephemera is in good condition and presents well with a working clasp, a relic that Masters collectors actively seek out and rarely come up with.
This is the largest auction we have had to date. Please use the search button and categories tab as an option to navigate your way through the numerous lots.
