2000 Open Championship at St. Andrews Flag with Jack Nicklaus RBS £5 Note
Featured in this lot is a 2000 St. Andrews Open Championship flag (18 1/4" x 13 3/4") appears to be unused. 2000 was the year of the 129th Open Championship. The tournament resulted Tiger Woods, at the age of 24, winning his first Open Championship by eight strokes. This was marked his fourth major title win. Also featured is a Jack Nicklaus commemorative £5 bank note. The note was issued on the first day of the 2005 Open Golf Championship at St. Andrews. The note was in celebration Nicklaus' astounding career which included three Open Championships victories. This bank note was the first to feature a non-royal person. Also featured on the note are Nicklaus' winning scores after his Open Championship victories in 1970 and 1978 at St. Andrews and Nicklaus's Golden Bear logo. The serial number prefix is JWN, standing for Jack William Nicklaus. The bank note is in a crisp condition, almost as crisp as the day it was printed.
