When Annika was asked to look back at her historical 2003 Colonial Invitational PGA Tour start on the ten year anniversary, she didn't hold back and nor should she have. “It was a turning point for me,” Annika Sorenstam told GolfChannel.com. “It’s one of the highlights of my career.” Remarkably, presented here is a piece of history from those first and second rounds - the actual handwritten PGA TOUR tournament scoreboard used that week featuring Sorenstam alphabetically amongst her fellow 'S' competitors. Reporting her 36 hole score breakdown in dark and light blue marker of the 71 and 74, including a back 9 of 1-under 34 on Thursday and a total of 145 that bested Kevin Sutherland two golfers down. There were initially mixed emotions throughout the field that week, with perhaps the most resistance coming from Vijay Singh. “What is she going to prove by playing? rambled Singh. “She doesn’t belong out here. It’s ridiculous.” Looking back at the moment it was an extremely important one in professional golf. Inclusion and the breaking of boundaries continue to be driving forces of golf going forward and a necessary initiative for the governing bodies - especially the USGA. This oversize, framed centerpiece was long displayed as part of Annika Sorenstam's 2003 Colonial Invitational exhibition in the World Golf Hall of Fame and is now presented for public consumption at this time. Sorenstam would miss the cut, Singh the mark, but golf would make great strides because of Sorenstam's 2003 Colonial Invitational start. 39" x 49."
