Lot #5 Is a museum worthy golf treasure of extraordinary proportion. The 18th hole flag that flew at Firestone Country Club on August 10, 1975 when Jack Nicklaus captured his 14th Major. During the post-championship celebration Nicklaus long-time caddy Angelo Argea in following with golf tradition rightfully claimed his prized 18th hole flag. The historical 18th hole marker measures "14 1/8 by "21 1/8 made out of nylon fabric which shows moderate use over the entire body of the flag. The gold flag has 7 1/2 inch in diameter embroidered patch stitched to the center of the flag. The patch is inscribed with "57th-Championship Firestone CC surrounding a PGA crest". Along the left side of the flag are three brass grommets which all three still retain small swatchs of cloth which would have attached flag to pin.On the left hand side between two grommets is applied in red the manufacturing information "PAR AIDE PROD.CO. ST.PAUL MINN 100% NYLON RN32335". Part of this labeling has worn away. See attached photos of flag for detail. Also please see photo from the 1975 PGA of Angelo Argea "on the bag" for Jack. At the top of the flag to the left of the embroidered center crest is a black sharpie signature of the champion Jack Nicklaus. A letter from James Spence Authentication accompanies this item verifying the authenticity of the signature.
