Alex (Sandy) Herd Signed Handwritten Letter - 1902 Open Champ
Sandy Herd was one of the most popular British professionals. He not only won the British Open in 1902, but also finished second three other times with the last coming at 52 years old in 1920. The offered correspondence in this lot was composed on Moor Park Golf Club letterhead December 8, 1926, this missive from Alex Herd states his intent to visit and work with a tournament and store in Birmingham. He wants to help this gentleman as much as he can as mentioned in the body of his letter. Written with flowing penmanship and signed with a full name signature both in steel tip fountain pen. Letter displays traditional compacting folds for mailing. The item measures 5" by 8." James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their full letter of authenticity (#X77095) will come with this lot.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, June 16th (Father's Day) with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
