There wasn't a sport, or trade, that Babe Zaharias couldn't play or perform at a high level. At least that's what her resume certainly indicates. A 10-time major golf champion, Olympic medalist in the hurdles, javelin throw and high jump, "major league" pitcher in baseball, AAU basketball champion, billiards, tennis, swimming and an excellent seamstress - of course 'The Babe' mastered bowling.

This towering feat of hardware was the engraved with 'Babe Zaharias' mixed-doubles team as champion not once, but twice in both 1951 and 1953 on this perpetual trophy that is not an easy lift. A philanthropist and socialite, Zaharias held this bowling championship coincided with their yearly golf invitational held at the Tampa Golf & CC. The two mid-century nameplates, each on a wooden tier, read "The Tampa Golf & CC - Mixed Doubles Invitational" on the top and then the champions below "1951 - Babe D. Zaharias-Buzz Fazio, 1952 - Laverne Carter-Don Carter, 1953 - Babe D. Zaharias-Steve Nagy." Notice that there is not only the showcased lady bowler figural atop the trophy, but a male and female on either side of this skyscraper representing the mixed doubles squads that competed for it. All of the intricate pieces are fully intact for this trophy, with condition detractors only the figural at the top pivoting with one foot and able to position back in her correct footing and some dulling of the nameplate that is expected over 70 years. Celebrate Babe Zaharias as likely the greatest athlete, male or female, that the world has known with this perpetual bowling trophy that she hoisted and was engraved into on two occasions. 35x18x11."
