Ben Hogan 1953 Exhibition Scorecard from Goose Creek Country Club - Virginia

This exhibition match was scheduled and played on August 9th, 1953 at the Goose Creek CC located in Leesburg, Virginia. Ben Hogan was paired with a young 15 year old Deane Beman (PGA Tour Commissioner for 20 years and 3x Amateur winner) who is notated by the original owner of this scorecard as 'Kid'. They played against the team of Bobby Brownell and Congressman Jack Westland ('Cong'). During a 9/16/16 interview on The Golf Channel with David Feherty, Deane recalled the score that Hogan logged on lot #1. The 6 matches the same marked on the scorecard. The exhibition was cut short due to lightning. The scorecard comes in good condition, showing some residue from tape on the inside and general scuff marks throughout.
