Bobby Jones & Big 3 w/Clifford Roberts AP Wire Photo Trophy Ceremony - 1965 Masters
Despite the caption steering this photo's narrative towards Jack's yearly on-course earnings of the then impressive $34k after an Augusta $20k boost, it's not about the money. Each of the men wearing a green jacket at that table, during that ceremony would heavily impact the tournament and golf forever. It was the only time in which each of the Big Three was at the Masters Trophy Ceremony. Two runner-ups and the champions Jack Nicklaus stand behind the aging Augusta National Golf Club co-founders Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. The three-way handshake sealed the deal. This photo presents with the caption down the left side of the photo and a crowd of dignitaries, members and workers behind.
Caption Reads: Nicklaus is the center of attention at post tourney awards ceremony as he accepts handshakes from runners-up Palmer and Gary Player from his record-breaking victory. Nicklaus got his second traditional green jacket signifying victory and, just as important, the $20,000 winner's share which boosted him to familiar position as the leading money-winner on pro golf tour. he has earned $34,400 this year.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
Place your bids NOW, don’t wait until the last minute. The auction will close beginning at 10:00pm ET Sunday, June 18th. You must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your initial bid. During extended bidding, each lot will have its own 30-minute countdown clock. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot for a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. Place your initial bids BEFORE 10pm ET in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET
Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
