Burke Mfg. Co. Newark, OH. Special Aluminum Head Brick Face Putter
Contained in this lot is a Burke Mfg. Co. Newark, OH. Special Aluminum Head Brick Face Putter. An example that was produced to be used by those that are both right and left handed, found on the narrow crown of the club is the head stamp of Burke Mfg. Co. Newark, OH. Special. William Burke had managed MacGregor's clubmaking for nearly 15 years before branching out on his own in 1910. By the late 1920's and early 1930's they were mass-producing affordable store-brand clubs, particularly the Columbia range. It is easy to overlook the quality and innovation they produced, but the fact that Jock Hutchison used their clubs, and Harry Vardon later gave them his endorsement, speaks volumes. 33 1/2" from the top of the grip to the bottom of the heel.
