Champion Frank Stranahan's 1958 Los Angeles Open 14k Winners Gold Medal - Final PGA Win
Frank Stranahan turned Professional at the age of 32 and went on to win six (6) career Tour Events. His final win on the PGA Tour came at the 1958 Los Angeles Open contested at the famous Rancho Park. The turning point of the '58 LA Open would come on the 9th hole of Sunday's final round when Stranahan hit his second shot close to a fence lining the fairway. He considered asking for a drop but decided to hit the ball where it lied. Fortunately for Frank, his shot stopped one foot from the pin for a birdie 4 and he went on shoot a 67 for the second straight day. A 275 total gave Frank Stranahan the victory.
For his last final PGA triumph, Stranahan received this beautifully engraved and hallmarked 14k Gold Medal. The front engravings read: “Winner, Los Angeles Open, Frank Stranahan”
