De Maria Scotorum Regina Book with Sure & Steadfast Clark Bookplate
"Sure and Steadfast" instead of "Far and Sure" is scrolled over the Clark family crest adorning the original owner's bookplate on this early title 'De Maria Scotorum Regina.' Dressed up with golf gilt design on the dark cover, this book revolves around a Scottish murder of a husband by his disgruntled wife. While this George Buchanan (1506-82) book likely mentions golf and perhaps strained the marriage, we are not aware of it. The nearly 500 year old book is a great conversation piece and presents a welcomed literally challenge.
