Circa 1840 McEwan Long Nose Putter with Shaft Label

Sole Plate/Horn Insert: Rams Horn with small areas of material loss
Grip Material: Leather with vintage paper that reads 'James McEwan Putter 1770 in possession of McEwan family since 1770.'
Replacement Parts or Refinished: Leather grip, slightly shaved face alteration

This putter is a mere 1" tall in the center, with the shorter measurement indicative of the feathery ball era.

The McEwan family was one of the top clubmakers dating back to as early as the 1770s, a time when feathery balls were still being played. The McEwan's were made up of six club makers with this club representing the fashion of craftmanship only seen with a McEwan. An excellent McEwan crafted club such as this example is expected to draw major interest from bidders looking to enhance their hickory club collection.
