Circa 1850 Douglas McEwan Putter with 'C. Crawford' Shaft Stamp

Overall Condition: Good, with a pin in the head with a 1 1/2" crack in the nose being the only major blemish.

Grip Material: Time-period replacement sheepskin grip

The label found on the sole reads '1850 Putter Douglas McEwan.' The contrast in color between the face and rest of head help secure this club's excellent presentation. The head is in very good condition, with the exception of the crack. What appears to be an amateur 'D' is in the heel.

The McEwan family was one of the top clubmakers dating back to as early as the 1770s, a time when feathery balls were still being played. The McEwan's were made up of six club makers with this club representing the fashion of craftmanship only seen with a McEwan. An excellent McEwan crafted club such as this example is expected to draw major interest from bidders looking to enhance their hickory club collection.
