Circa 1900 Royal Doulton Morrisian Ware 3-Handled Mug Depicting 3 Golfers - Rare
Decorated with three golfers and fruiting bands with a mustard glaze, this mug stands 6 3/4" tall and has a small repaired chip. Glazing is present both on the interior and exterior, so please let The Golf Auction know if you would like additional photos for reference. The Doulton family started making pipes and sanitary fittings in 1815, later enlisting local artists to design tableware and fine collectibles. Doulton was granted the Royal Warrant in 1901, and continues to make fine glassware to this day, now a part of the Waterford Wedgwood family. Morrisian Ware gets it's name from William Morris, the much revered British artist and activist. The mustard color of this piece catches every eye. We don't use the word rare on many descriptions preferring to stay away from inappropriate hyperbole. That word stands in conjunction with this lot for most appropriate reasons.
