Circa 1940 MacGregor Ben Hogan Complete 2-9 Iron Set - Rec. No. 2360 - (Updated Description)
The Golf Auction previously stated in this lot that these irons purportedly dated to the early 1950's prior to the Ben Hogan Golf Co. We have been provided with information that these irons date to much earlier, the pre-war years of 1940-1941. This set is in good condition and Along with the Ben Hogan signature engraving is MacGregor, the closer illustration and "Stylized" along with the "Reg. No. 2360" designation. This number 2360 were advertised by MacGregor as having the ideal "swinger's feel" and designed for the "light hitting male" or "fine woman player." These are pyratone shafted clubs, a year prior to them shifting production of the set to steel shafts. This complete set came during Ben Hogan's unofficial tour takeover, winning four times in the 1940 season and only once prior. This challenging set from over a decade prior to Ben Hogan's storied 1953 season is a must for Bantam Ben collectors.
