Complete 1942 Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday Masters Tournament Pairing Sheets

Here is a four day run of pairing guides for the 1942 Masters. This was the final Masters Tournament competition before the postponement due to World War II (the final Major tournament as well). Byron Nelson, the winner of the 1937 Masters, won in a playoff against Ben Hogan (only the 2nd multiple winner after Horton Smith). The 18 hole playoff was refereed by Bobby Jones himself. With the impending war, and the flirting with bankruptcy along the road for the previous 9 years, the 1942 Tournament would turn out to be the most important one in it's history. After dropping behind early on in the playoff, Nelson would go on a stretch that seemed cruel in it's perfection, Lord Byron shot 6 under from hole 6 through hole 13. This duel for the ages was over 70 years ago, and looking back it seems as though there was more than one victory that day. One for Nelson, and one for Augusta National. This relic of competition at golfs highest level comes directly from the PGA where it has resided for over 75 years. From the collection of PGA REACH, with a certificate of authenticity accompanying this lot.
