Jack Nicklaus was not a very congenial host as he claimed the second ever title at his own tournament, The Memorial in 1977. The event was hosted at Nicklaus' Muirfield Village Golf Club. His regular caddy, Angelo Argea was on the bag for the event and claimed this 18th hole flag after Jack's victory. The yellow flag ("14 3/8 by "19 1/8)contains a large silk screened Muirfield Village crest in the middle of the flag. The three brass grommets on the left side each contain several fibors in each as remnants of attachments between flag and pin. This flag exhibits heavy use and weathering.Attached to the back of the flag is a "1/2 by "1 1/2 manufaturors tag "STANDARD GOLF FLAGS By Standard Golf Co. Cedar Rapids, Iowa".Angelo has attached a piece of masking tape to the back side of the flag and wrote 'MUIRFIELD OHIO' for his identification on this piece. 1977 Memorial champ Jack Nicklaus has signed the upper left corner of the flag in black sharpie. JSA letter of authenticity accompanies this Nicklaus autograph.
