1946 Western Golf Amateur Champion-14k Gold Award Medal
Frank Stranahan won the Western Amateur golf championship in a par-busting 38-hole match play final battle over Marvin "Bud" Ward. Both men gave par of 72 at the Northland Country Club in Duluth, Minnesota a beating. They both toured the morning 18 holes in 68's and the afternoon 18 in 69's. On the second extra hole it was Stranahan's par that broke the deadlock, and gave him the victory in the 44th (and longest final match to date)Western Amateur. For this triumph Stranahan received the scalloped edged medal offered here.The award with 14K gold content proudly displays the crest of the Western Golf Association Amateur Championship on the front of the 1 3/8' diameter medal. This treasure resides below an adorning black ribbon that bears its affixing clasp(reverse stamped 14K). Engraving on the verso of the medal proclaims the champion: Winner

Overall size of award is 3 5/8" length including ribbon and clasp. A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
