1954 Kansas City Open Low Amateur Trophy - 6th Annual - Frank Stranahan
For Frank Stranahan the PGA's 1954 Kansas City Open would be one of the last events he would tee it up as an amateur, turning pro later that summer following the U.S. Amateur. Not that Stranahan,son of the Founder and Chairman of Champion Spark Plugs, needed the money but when prize money had grown to $20,000 for the KC Open and the event was being won not by Hogan or Snead but by Wally Ulrich. He had to take note. As low amateur in the event Stranahan received this impressive figural golfing trophy which states:

Base is 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" and stands 25 1/2" Tall, 9" from handle to handle
