Seldom seen is this framed 'lifetime access' to St Andrews Old Course presented to the 1932 Champion Golfer of the Year Gene Sarazen during the 1960 Open Championship that July which celebrated the 100th anniversary of the tournament. The great honor is not often given, signed and stamped in wax is this oversize declaration that states: 'In this, the Centenary Year if the Open Golf Championship We, the Provost, Magistrates and Councillors of the Royal Burgh of St Andrews, present the Freedom of the Old Course to Gene Sarazen Open Champion, 1932 that he may play over it, at any time, free of charge, henceforth as long as he may please. Signed at the conclusion by both the Provost and Town Clerk." 22 1/2 x 16 1/2." A signed letter of provenance from Mary Ann Sarazen will come with this lot.
