Gene Sarazen's Personal 'Welcome Back to Masters' Handwritten Invitation And Envelope - Sarazen Collection
Gene Sarazen was a staple at The Masters Tournament, winning the second edition in 1973, playing many rounds of the Par Three Contest and of course as an Honorary Starter from 1981 until his passing in 1999 - much of that with his friends Sam Snead and Byron Nelson. Here is the handwritten calligraphic "invitation" and envelope on an Augusta National card reading 'Welcome Back to the Masters. Augusta National Golf Club originally house in this 'Gene Sarazen' black marker labeled envelope in the same hand. Sarazen's lasting impact on the club and tournament is still appreicated today, with each contestant walking across the Sarazen Bridge - in honor of Sarazen's Double Eagle shot in 1935 and dedicated in 1955. A signed letter of provenance from Mary Ann Sarazen will come with this lot.
