Hal Sutton's 1998 The President's Cup Porcelain Box Gifted from Jack & Barbara Nicklaus
A classy gesture that Captain Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara practiced when given the leadership role for international competition in both The Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup was the gift of porcelain containers to players and select tournament dignitaries. Here is Hal Sutton's ornate hand painted Nicolls hinged box from the Nicklaus' for his contribution to the 1998 Presidents Cup. It was crafted in Limoges, France. Both Jack and Barbara's names are written on the underside of the box, viewable when opened. "Hand painted" and "Nicholls" can be found on the bottom. Accented by gold paint and great attention to detail by the artisans. 2 7/8" x 1 1/2" x 1." A signed letter of provenance from Hal Sutton comes with this lot.
