Horton Smith Signed Hotel Receipt from The Lowry St. Paul, Minn.

Horton Smith will forever be known as the inaugural champion of the Augusta National Invitation Tournament in 1934, the tournament known today simply as 'The Masters'. He added a second win at Augusta in 1936 among his 32 career PGA triumphs. In 1930, Horton Smith was the only player to defeat Bobby Jones in his Grand Slam season. United States born Smith was also a fashionable pick in the early Ryder Cup competitions appearing in five consecutive events from 1929-37. The World Golf Hall of Famer was the first past Masters Champion to decease when he passed away in 1963 at 55. Here we have a Horton Smith Signed Hotel Receipt from The Lowry St. Paul, Minnesota in flowing pencil. The $135 total was paid with check #11 and accounts for six days of lodging for Horton Smith.
