The Great Triumvirate preceded The Big Three of Palmer, Nicklaus and Player and consisted of Open Championship victors and golfing greats JH Taylor, James Braid and Harry Vardon. Together on the single piece in this lot you will find both Harry Vardon and JH Taylor's signatures on the front, with other leading golfers of the day MacDonald Smith and Al Espinosa on the reverse. Vardon won the Open Championship a record six times (1896, 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911, 1914) and was the 1900 U.S. Open champion. He, James Braid, and John Henry Taylor formed the 'Great Triumvirate' of the three renowned British golfers at the turn of the century. The three Englishmen combined to win the Open Championship 16 out of 21 times spanning from 1894-1914. Vardon, passed away in 1937, long before autographs were the popular pursuit as they are today. Combine this with his legendary status as both player and innovator in the game, and it is easy to see why any signed item of Vardon's that hits the marketplace is highly coveted. JH Taylor would win his incredible 5th and final Open Championship title over the defending champion Ted Ray by 8 strokes in 1900. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
