Jack Nicklaus & Arnold Palmer Field Signed '1972 US Open Pebble Beach' Periscope w/ Tickets, Badge & Tag
Surviving the elements, while being used for the eyes of spectators doesn't even do this specific periscope justice. It was the year 1972 and a blonde bomber and proven champion named Jack Nicklaus defeated the US Open field, like he had done two times prior. A mass of spectators were in attendance this day, many rooting for and following the bear. When Nicklaus looked back at them he often saw the sea of Pacific, as well as a sea of the gallery's periscopes. This specific periscope was then taken and signed by 11 golfers of the tournament in California including champion Jack Nicklaus and the King, Arnold Palmer. The front side of the four sided periscope includes both Nicklaus and Palmer's signatures, as well as the notation '1972 US Open - Pebble Beach' both by Nicklaus' signature and on the top. Field signatures on this periscope include Julius Boros, Doug Sanders, Tom Weiskopf, Billy Casper and Miller Barber. Along with the periscope are 1972 US Open items including tickets, badge and a bag tag. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and an auction letter of authenticity is included with this lot.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, June 16th (Father's Day) with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
