Jim Barnes Vintage Signature on 4 x 6 1/2 Card

Barnes was like many golfers of his era, worked as a caddie and a club-maker's apprentice while growing up in England. He moved to the United States and turned professional in 1906, but never became an American citizen. Until Tiger Woods won by 15 strokes in 2000, Jim Barnes had the record of 9 strokes for a winning margin which he did at the 1921 US Open at Columbia Country Club. One of the most successful tournament players of the first few seasons of the PGA Tour, Barnes won 21 times on the tour. He led the tournament winners list in four seasons: 1916, 1917, 1919 and 1921. Accompanied by a 8 1/2" x 11" black and white photo, this vintage Jim Barnes Signature was made with a fountain pen. Dated 'Dec 2nd, 1935' with the inscription 'With all good wishes'. James Spence Authentication (JSA) provides authenticity papers with this lot.
